Relaxation is key!

Hey there everyone hope you are having a great day and week so far! I also hope you are all staying healthy and safe out there! Okay, so today I wanted to talk about what I do to relax and recenter myself and it hasn't changed much from before but now I have added in taking a stroll during the middle of the day with the dog. I love being able to meditate and listen to music and I can say there are different forms of meditation. I want to start off with what I struggle with on a daily basis and that is anxiety and depression.

I have to say that I have learned to notice when my depression and anxiety are coming through hard. I usually tend to have a hard time managing my insomnia and things stress me out more than usual. That is when I am more aware of what is going on in my mind and with my emotional state and my mental state which in turn also affects my physical state because both start to manifest physically for me. I am sure that it is different for everyone and that everyone has a different way of coping with this and this is just my advice and you can do what feels best for you. Here are some of the things that I do and that is journal, workout, listen to instrumental music, and meditate. I love doing these things because self love and self care are the only way that I seem to be able to get through anything since I like doing things in the more natural and holistic manner. Plus they cost little to nothing if you are doing them at home.

I love that these things help me express the mood that I am in for that moment on that day and most the time I try to journal at least 4-5 times a week because it helps for me to just get my emotions out on paper and really just have things that I want to express out in the open like that. I also blog on here and this is a great way for me to express myself. If you need something to start with I would highly recommend starting with journaling since the other options are more out of the comfort zone and you can keep your journaling private for you only. If you don't know where to start you can just start writing my saying today like I use to and sometimes still do or you can go on a guided journaling app like Jour which I have heard is great but I have not tried myself so I am not 100% sure. The second thing I do and like all the things I do to relax highly recommend is I work out, now before you say but I don't work out like that or something to that degree just keep reading now when I am getting back into working out I start with 3 times a week at 15 mins a day and that is it and I just control my diet. I do yoga, cardio, or full body but I usually mix it up. This again if you want to try something new and you are not obligated to do anything these are just things that I do and ideas that you can use for yourself and your situation. I know this last year has been hard on everyone and everyone is dealing with it in their own way.

Now, thirdly I listen to instrumental music and that does not just mean classical. I do listen to classical piano because I love the piano and know how to play the piano and will probably find classes to study the piano more again. I also listen to stuff like lofi, gaming, cultural music like Japanese or Chinese or Celtic. I listen to it and either lay on my bed or on my floor most of the time it is on my bed and just let it play. I just listen to the music and let the music just fill my ears while I think about nothing. I let my mind go blank and just lay there staring at the ceiling and just relax. I will change it up depending on my mood but for the most part I listen to instrumental and sometimes to some of my chill playlists. I especially love listening to my playlists when I am driving on a long drive. That really helps me relax and work through things when I have a lot on my mind. The last thing I want to talk about is something that I have mentioned so many times and that is meditation and I cannot stress that I personally love it and think everyone should try it at least a couple times. You can start off with 5 minuets and just work with how that makes you feel from there. There are plenty of guided meditation apps like calm just to name one of them and that is the best part you can pick something that is specific to what you are looking for in the meditation. I really love it and I try to do it as much as I can and it has worked wonders when I do have a moment of anxiety or depression or both but I also do all these things when I am doing good and not have a moment of struggle.

I try to keep this up so that it is easier for to get through those moments and not in the moment when it is so much harder for me to focus so if you are going to do anything to try to relax or just help you deal with life in the first place then I would suggest trying to do it as much as possible. That will definitely help you in the long run. I think that for the most part that is all that I do and I really do love all the things that I do and keep doing for myself. I sometimes like I said before change it up and that really just depends on my mood or the head space that I am in at that moment in my life. I think doing it like this has really worked for me and my life and if you think it will work for you and your life then I would say try it and see if it does. I do have to say that in no way am I an expert and I think that if you are struggling with some serious issues in your life then please see a professional and work with them to find what will work best for you and your life. I advocate for therapy having done it myself and gone through it because it really does help to talk it out and if that could work for you then please reach out and get the help that you need.

I want everyone to remember that even the darkest moments will pass and trust me I say that from my own experiences and having had some really low moments of being past my rock bottom. I know what it is like to struggle so hard and feel like it will never end but it will and you will see the light again one I promise. The sun will keep coming up and you will one day be able to feel all that warmth. I hope that you always remember that you are amazing and such a wonderful soul. You are heard and seen and accepted for you who you are and at least I feel so long as you aren't hurting anyone or yourself then you are perfect the way that you are because that is your superpower.
